Although there are many kinds of orthopedic injuries, some of the most common include:
-
Plantar Fasciitis – The most common reason for heel pain and is caused by repeatedly stressing the ligament that connects the heel bone to the toes and supports the foot arch.
-
Ankle and Foot Sprains – These often occur when the foot is suddenly twisted or turned, stretching or tearing tissue that supports the foot and ankle.
-
Meniscus Tear- The meniscus is cartilage in the knee that allows for easy movement of the legs. This type of tear is one of the most common knee injuries, especially for those that play sports.
-
Tennis Elbow- Closely related to golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow is caused when the tendons around the elbow become inflamed, causing pain. It is often caused by overuse of the muscles in the arm, forearm and hand.
-
ACL Tear- The ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) runs through the middle of the knee, providing stability. ACL tears usually happen during activities such as sports, that involve quick stops, starts or turns.
